Reshaping the way Companies make business is surely one of the main solution to fight environment crisis and decrease environmental impact. Recently, many big Corporations have committed to reduced their impact on the environment. Some of them reducing power consumption, others recycling or reducing CO2 emission. Here below some companies that impressed me through 2019.

Recreational Equipment Inc (REI) is a company that sells recreational gear, sporting equipment, and clothing. It has grown steadily since it was founded and has achieved some impressive environmental accomplishments and it is planning to accomplish many more.

A few examples of REI's  actions to decrease its environmental impact:

It plans to become climate-neutral in operations by 2020 and a zero waste-to-landfill organisation by 2020. 26 REI factories are currently equipped with solar technology.

I spoke about Ecosia here in this article few months ago! It is a search engine which uses its surplus income to plants trees and to carry out actions to preserve the environment and to help population living in extreme conditions. Essentially, the company uses Yahoo’s search algorithm to allow its users to make research and get paid by the companies that advertise on it.

A few reasons why Ecosia is an environmental-friendly company:

Currently, Ecosia has planted over 79 million trees. They set 1 billion trees by 2020 (yes one billion) as a goal. It's supported many eco-friendly companies and initiatives.

How cool would it be if just buying a cloth we could plant some trees? Ten Tree is a clothing company which has committed to planting ten trees for each item sold. Their goal is to plant trees in areas that need it most such as areas affected by mass deforestation, poverty, etc.

To date, they have planted over 26 million trees. Only work with companies that can source products through the local region which has in turn reduced approximately 15% of the pollution through shipping and use recycled or organic material such hemp, Tencel, organic cotton and so. on

Sunridge Farms is a family-owned business which is a leader in the bulk food industry. By implementing actions that help decrease their environmental impact they place in our top 5 eco-friendly companies. They also try to use non-GMO ingredients whenever possible.

Among their actions is worthy to. highlight few of them. In 2011 the company finished its solar array which allows it to produces 785 MKilowatt per hours of annual production (35-40% of the company’s energy needs). They have also equipped their facilities low-flow water-saving devices. Furthermore, the company has a bike-to-work program that offers employees 5 dollars per day to employees who cycle to and from work. Finally, they equipped tis sales team with only biodiesel trucks and hybrid cars.

What if you can get your laundry done and delivered with just one click? Wash Cycle Laundry was founded in 2010. It offers washing and delivering services of laundry and linens. Nothing new so far, however, it delivers not using cars or trucks but via bikes. An eco-friendly idea that is proving to be both efficient and successful.

On top of their delivery method, the company uses green laundry detergent and no-perc (a toxic solvent) dry cleaning. Bike-powered delivery, resulting in no CO2 emissions. So far, Wash Cycle Laundry has saved more than 4 million litres of water.

Finally, a special mention goes to We Wood.

Using recycled and sustainable material it creates 100% natural luxury watches. They are strongly committed towards the environment and for every watch sold, they plant 1 tree.

Over 400 000 trees planted. Their products are all made using recycled and ecologic materials. Their goal is to plant 1 million trees by 2020.

I hope you found this article useful and start using these companies in case you need any service they provide.
